At the heart of my approach to mental health is an integrative stance that combines cognitive, psychodynamic, and recovery-oriented approaches. I see therapy as a collaborative approach that, ideally, helps foster secure attachment, gives enough space for concerns, and provides gentle challenging.
I have sought training in treating trauma- and stressor-related, dissociative, addiction, and personality disorders. I work with suicidal ideation and self-harm, complete trauma, life adjustment, and depression and anxiety. I also work with couples facing concerns like life transition, infidelity, attachment, and co-parenting.
I am also a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and am quite comfortable working with queer, trans*, gender-nonconforming, and gender-expansive peoples.
I combine cognitive behavioural, dialectical behavioural, recovery-oriented, and psychodynamic approaches. I work with children (age 6+), adolescents and teenagers, and adults.
For couples psychotherapy, I work with emotion-focused and attachment-informed perspectives to help couples understand one another, navigate transitions, and build trust.
I am trained in EMDR therapy and use it if it's requested or indicated. For more information on EMDR, feel free to check out EMDRIA.
Supervised by Dr. Rachel Keaschuk, I provide psychoeducational assessments and clinical diagnostic assessments. These assessments may be used to identify learning concerns or giftedness to provide recommendations for schools and families, or help make sense of what someone is experiencing.
Psychoeducational assessments range between 8-10 hours, ADHD assessments are commonly 3-4 hours, and clinical diagnostic assessments are commonly 3-5 hours. The hours required for assessment are billed at the recommended fee schedule of the Psychological Association of Alberta, more information can be found here.
My individual and couples work extends to a variety of sexualities and gender identities/expressions. I have training in gender-informed care, and work to keep up on current advancements in the field.
At the heart of my work is safe and shame-free spaces for people of all experiences. Therapy becomes a collaborative experience that, ideally, is empowering, collaborative, and transparent. I understand dissociation to be a natural, human response to remarkable pain that is responsive to psychotherapy.
